Atal Medical and Research University, popularly called AMRU and earlier known as Himachal Pradesh University of Health Sciences, holds the distinction of being the first state university in Himachal Pradesh. Recognized by the UGC, it was set up in 2019. According to Collegedunia, AMRU was ranked 456th in the medical category in 2025.
