

Banaras Hindu University (BHU), originally called Central Hindu College, is a central university located in Varanasi, India. Founded in 1916, BHU is renowned as the largest residential university in Asia and holds the prestigious status of Institutes of National Importance by the UGC. In the NIRF 2024 rankings, BHU secured the 4th position for Agriculture and 11th in the overall category. The university spans two campuses, includes five institutes, 16 faculties, and 135 departments, offering over 350 courses at undergraduate, postgraduate, and research levels. BHU provides a variety of undergraduate programs like BSc, BBA, BA, BTech, and BCom, while postgraduate options include MA, MSc, MCom, MA, MBA, MCA, and MTech. The BSc Hons is a prominent program, with admissions based on the CUET UG (Common University Entrance Test). For 2024, the CUET UG cutoff marks for BSc Hons ranged from 248 to 537 for the general category, with a first-year fee between INR 30,000 and INR 50,000. Although the BHU Placement 2025 Report isn't out yet, the NIRF 2025 report indicates that out of 11,441 students in 2024, 1,967 secured placement. The median salary for students in the 5-year UG program was INR 16 LPA. Major recruiters included notable companies such as IGraviton Research Capital, Rakuten, Microsoft, Google, and Goldman Sachs.
