About

Established in 2016, Government Medical College, Mahabubnagar is one of the newer government medical institutions in Telangana. The college is affiliated with the Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS), Warangal, and is fully recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC). Being a government-run institution, it is a sought-after choice for medical aspirants in the state due to its affordability and quality of education. The primary course offered is the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), with an annual intake of 175 students. Admission is strictly based on the performance in the NEET UG examination, followed by counseling conducted by KNRUHS for the state quota and the MCC for the All-India Quota. While the official fee structure for the 2025 academic session is yet to be released, the annual tuition fee has consistently been around INR 15,000 for government quota seats, making it highly accessible. The college has also started postgraduate (MD/MS) courses in several clinical and non-clinical specialities. When considering career prospects, placement statistics for 2025 are not applicable in the traditional sense for an MBBS degree. Upon completing their 4.5-year course, all students undergo a mandatory one-year compulsory rotating residential internship (CRRI) at the associated Government General Hospital. This provides them with essential hands-on clinical experience. Following the internship, graduates either prepare for postgraduate entrance exams like NEET-PG to pursue specialization or take up positions as medical officers in government or private hospitals.
