Established in 2019, Rampurhat Government Medical College and Hospital is affiliated with the West Bengal University of Health Sciences (WBUHS), Kolkata, and holds the necessary approval from the National Medical Commission (NMC). As a relatively new institution, it is yet to feature in the NIRF rankings, which is common for colleges in their initial years of operation. The college is primarily focused on its undergraduate MBBS program, which has an intake of 100 students annually. Admission is strictly based on performance in the NEET-UG examination, with seats being allocated through the All India and State Quota counselling processes. Looking ahead to the 2025 admission cycle, the annual tuition fees for the MBBS course are expected to remain highly affordable, estimated to be around INR 13,500, a key advantage of pursuing medical education in a government institution. When it comes to career prospects, the model for medical colleges differs from others. Specific placement data for the 2026 graduating batch is not compiled in the traditional sense, as graduates do not participate in campus placement drives. Instead, after completing their 4.5-year course, all students undertake a compulsory one-year rotating internship, for which they are expected to receive a monthly stipend of around INR 30,000. Following this, doctors typically prepare for postgraduate entrance exams like NEET-PG to pursue specialisation or join state government health services as medical officers.
