The Government Institute of Medical Sciences, commonly referred to as GIMS, is a state-run, autonomous medical institution affiliated with Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University in Uttar Pradesh. It is approved by the National Medical Commission (NMC) and recognized by the Indian Nursing Council (INC). The campus covers 56 acres provided by the Uttar Pradesh government and is situated within the Gautama Buddha University campus. Notably, it is the only institution in Uttar Pradesh with NABH and NABL accreditations from QCI. GIMS is ranked 112th out of 660 medical institutes in India, according to Collegedunia.com in 2025. GIMS offers a variety of courses at undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctorate levels. Admissions are currently open. The institute provides 22 courses, with B.Sc (Nursing) and MBBS being its flagship programs. For B.Sc (Nursing), candidates need to have completed 10+2 and scored appropriately on the CNET exam.
