Government Sivagangai Medical College and Hospital [GSMCH], established in 2012, is a respected government medical institution located in Sivaganga, Tamil Nadu. Affiliated with The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University in Chennai, the college is fully recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC), ensuring a standard of quality medical education for aspiring doctors in the region. The primary undergraduate course offered is the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), with an annual intake of 100 students. Admission to this highly sought-after program is exclusively based on the scores obtained in the NEET UG examination. Seats are allocated through both the All India Quota (AIQ) and Tamil Nadu state counselling processes. A major attraction for students is the affordability; while the fee structure for the 2025-26 academic year is yet to be announced, the annual tuition fee under the government quota has been approximately ₹13,610 in recent years, making it an accessible option. Unlike engineering colleges, government medical institutions do not have a traditional placement season. Upon completing the 4.5-year MBBS course, students undertake a mandatory one-year Compulsory Rotatory Residential Internship (CRRI) at the associated hospital, gaining invaluable practical experience. Post-internship, graduates have clear career pathways. Many choose to prepare for the NEET-PG exam to pursue postgraduate specializations (MD/MS), while others opt to serve as medical officers in government healthcare facilities or join the private sector. Therefore, specific placement data for 2025 or 2026, such as highest packages, is not applicable.
