

The University of Madras, a public state university, was established in 1857 in Chennai. Presently, it operates six campuses located in Chepauk, Marina, Guindy, Taramani, Chetpet, and Maduravoyal, with Chepauk as its primary campus. According to the NIRF's overall category ranking in 2024, it sits at the 64th position, and in 2025, Outlook ranked it 25th in the management category. The university offers an impressive range of programs, including 87 postgraduate, 28 PG Diploma, and 29 certification programs, with the M.Sc. program being the most notable, followed by the LLM. Admissions to the university's various courses are determined by entrance exam scores conducted by Madras University. For MBA and PGDM courses, students are admitted based on their TANCET scores. The tuition fees for different courses range between INR 10,000 and INR 55,000. Though the 2025 placement report has not been released, the NIRF Data for 2025 indicates that the median package for 2-Year PG programs was INR 4.20 LPA, and for 3-Year PG programs in 2024, it was INR 4.80 LPA. Over 500 students secured placements in various companies across the nation. Prominent recruiters during the 2024 placement season included GSK, Infosys, Wipro, TCS, Cognizant, Accenture, and SBI.
