Annamalai University, situated in Chidambaram, covers nearly 1000 acres and was founded in 1929 in Annamalainagar. It has been at the forefront of distance education in India, with courses approved by the Distance Education Board (DEB). Additionally, its on-campus programs have accreditation from NAAC, NBA, AICTE, NCTE, and ICAR. In 2022, the university earned an ‘A+’ rating from NAAC. According to the NIRF ranking in 2024, Annamalai University was placed in the 151-200 range among Indian colleges.
