Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology, commonly known as NIT Surat, was founded in 1961 as a hub for technical and research education. Initially established as one of the Regional Engineering Colleges, NIT Surat holds accreditations including an A++ Grade from NAAC, as well as recognition by UGC and AICTE. In the year 2025, it was ranked 66th in the B.Tech category by NIRF and secured the 41st spot according to Collegedunia. The institute offers a diverse range of programs at undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels, including B.Tech, M.Tech, B.Sc + M.Sc, MBA, B.Tech + MBA, and Ph.D, spread across 12 departments. For B.Tech admission, candidates must satisfy a minimum requirement of 75% in their 10+2 examinations. Allocation of seats is conducted based on valid JEE Main scores via JoSAA/CSAB counselling, with cutoffs for 2025 ranging from 7470 to 63257 for the general category. To finalize admission, students need to be present for document verification and fee payment. According to the 2025 placement report, NIT Surat saw placements for 634 students, facilitated by 158 companies such as Amazon, IBM, Oracle, Microsoft, and Siemens.
