Assam University, a public university established by the central government in 1994, has its primary campus located in Dargakona, roughly 20 kilometers from Silchar city. This esteemed university is accredited by UGC, AICTE, and AIU. It comprises 16 distinct schools with more than 40 departments. The institution provides a variety of programs including undergraduate, integrated postgraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral studies across its campuses and affiliated colleges. Assam University is highly regarded for its B.Tech and MBA courses. For B.Tech, admissions are conducted through JEE Main followed by JoSAA/CSAB counseling, while MBA entries are determined by CUET(PG), CAT, XAT, or CMAT scores. The majority of the bachelor's and master's programs require the CUET examination for admission.
