Sir M Visvesvaraya Institute of Technology, commonly known as Sir MVIT, is a private engineering college in Bangalore. It is associated with Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) in Belgaum and was established in 1986 by the Sri Krishnadevaraya Educational Trust. The institute is approved by AICTE and has received a Grade B++ accreditation from both AICTE and NBA. The expansive campus covers 133 acres near Yelahanka and in 2020, the institute was placed in the 251-300 range in the NIRF rankings. Sir MVIT offers a range of courses, including 13 undergraduate and 11 postgraduate programs, in addition to offering lateral entry courses. The Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science and Engineering (BE CSE) is the standout course, with a total fee of approximately INR 24 lakhs. Other popular specializations include Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (AI & ML). The postgraduate courses like M.Tech, MBA, and MCA also attract many students. While the placement statistics for 2025 are not yet available, in 2024, Sir MVIT had an impressive placement rate of 89%. Admissions to the undergraduate programs are based primarily on entrance exams like KCET and COMEDK UGET, while PGCET and KMAT are the main exams for postgraduate admissions.
