

O.P. Jindal University (OPJU), located in Raigarh, was set up by the Jindal Education and Welfare Society and gained recognition through an Act of the Legislature in Chhattisgarh in 2014. The university focuses on delivering top-notch education and training to empower young individuals, aiming to contribute to both national development and global recognition. The institution is backed by Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL), part of the US$ 18 billion OP Jindal Group. OPJU provides undergraduate engineering programs in fields like Civil, Electrical and Electronics, Computer Science, Mechanical, and Metallurgical Engineering. Admissions are based on performances in JEE Mains and/or Chhattisgarh Pre Engineering Test (CGPET). Established in 2014 as a state private university, OPJU is approved by AICTE. The auditorium can accommodate 250 people, and the university has three boys’ hostels with a capacity of 1,000, while the girls’ hostel can accommodate 300. About 75% of students at OPJU secure placements. The university is just 20 km away from Raigarh Station. OPJU collaborates with international institutions like the Colorado School of Mines, USA, Changwan National University, University of Texas, Dallas, USA, and College of New Caledonia, Canada. This promotes a global learning environment and enhances educational and professional exposure. For meritorious students, scholarships are available, with provisions for bank loans and assistantships based on merit and need. Students scoring above 93% are awarded INR 75,000.
