About
Birla Institute of Technology Mesra, commonly referred to as BIT Mesra or BIT Ranchi, was founded by Mr. B.M. Birla in 1955. It was recognized as a Deemed University by UGC in 1986 and has received an ‘A’ grade from NAAC. The institute offers a variety of undergraduate courses such as BTech, BArch, BPharma, BBA, and BCA. At the postgraduate level, it provides MTech, MSc, MPharm, and MBA programs, along with Diploma and PhD opportunities. In 2024, BIT Mesra was ranked 48th out of 300 institutions by NIRF for B.Tech, and in 2025, Collegedunia placed it at 57th out of 762 in the same category. BIT Mesra's flagship program is the BTech offering, with 11 specializations available. Prospective students need to have scored at least 60% in their 10+2 exams from a recognized board. Final admissions are determined by the candidates' All India Rank in the JEE Main, along with CSAB or JoSAA Counseling participation. The B.Tech. fee for BIT Mesra in 2025 is INR 4.38 lakhs for the first year. The 2024 placement season at BIT Mesra saw 150 companies visiting the campus and extending 530 job offers. Students benefited from a highest package of INR 51 LPA, while the average package was INR 11.57 LPA. Some prominent recruiters included Deloitte, Amdocs, Amadeus, Infosys, Hyundai, IFB, Reliance, Capgemini, VISA, and IB.
