Vinod Gupta School of Management, known as VGSOM, is a recognized government institute that was set up in 1993 as the management wing of IIT Kharagpur. VGSOM is affiliated with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur. As per IIRF 2025 rankings, VGSOM holds the 12th position among management schools nationally, while Collegedunia places it 23rd in the 'Management' category for 2025. The institute provides undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs. The flagship courses at VGSOM are the MBA and Ph.D. programs. Admission to the MBA program is determined by CAT scores, followed by a personal interview. Applicants must have a 4-year bachelor's degree with at least 60% marks. The first-year fee for the MBA course is INR 5.23 lakh. For Ph.D. admissions, the UGC NET score is followed by an interview, and candidates need a postgraduate degree with a minimum of 50% marks. Leading recruiters included Accenture, Amazon, Blinkit, EY, and Axtria. During the 2024 placement season, the highest offer was INR 37.07 LPA, with an average package of INR 20.83 LPA and a median of INR 20.65 LPA. Notably, the strategy and consulting sector dominated placements, making up 29% in 2024, with a rise to 45% in 2025.
