The National Institute of Technology Calicut, popularly called NITC or NIT Calicut, is a public institution founded in 1961. It is recognized by both UGC and AICTE. In the NIRF rankings of 2024, NIT Calicut achieved 25th position in the B.Tech category, 54th in the Overall category, and 3rd in Architecture. It performed well in the 2025 Collegedunia rankings too, standing at 24th in B.Tech, 6th in Architecture, and 139th in MBA. NIT Calicut provides UG, PG, and Ph.D. programs across various specializations. Its B.Tech program is the highlight, with admissions depending on JEE Main scores, followed by JoSAA counseling. The B.Tech courses offer specializations like CSE, Biotechnology, ME, ECE, Engineering Physics, EEE, Production Engineering, and Chemical Engineering. Though the 2026 Placement Report of NIT Calicut is not yet released, past data reveal that for the 2024-2025 batch, the top package for UG courses was INR 43.24 LPA, while PG courses saw a highest offer of INR 39.27 LPA. The placement season at NITC attracted over 208 companies such as Atlassian, Oracle, Nvidia, Salesforce, Goldman Sachs, Cisco, Barclays, SAP, Samsung, Uber, Paytm, TCS, Bajaj, Ford, Reliance, L&T, and Accenture. NIT Calicut continues to strengthen its reputation with its wide array of academic programs and notable placements, standing out as a prominent institute in India.
